Suzanne Lubeck has been a visual artist creating paintings and sculptures from her Vernon Street Studio in Somerville for over 17 years. Suzanne is a proud Somervillen participating widely in community events and serving on the Somerville Open Studios Board for many years.
Her formative years were spent traveling in a powder blue Peugeot with two pop tents, her mother, father, and 3 siblings throughout Europe, including travel on a freighter from harbor to harbor on the Mediterranean Sea. By the time she was nine years she'd been to over 30 countries. (Not military, not diplomat.)
Prior to her full time studio practice she was an arts administrator and arts educator at the Milwaukee Art Museum, in public and private schools, after school programs, and adult community arts centers from Wisconsin, to Germany, and then Massachusetts.
In order to balance the trifecta of occupations that don’t compensate for hourly work: artist, teacher, and mother, Suzanne also makes Beaded Crochet Jewelry.
